Free Food Friday
Introducing Free Food Friday
Free Food Friday is a service we offer to those in our local community who require food. Food is available to take for free from the front of our church building from 9.45 am - 4 pm every Friday during school-term-time.

Unlock and open the front doors of the church building.
Set-up the gazebo and secure it to the hand rails.

Place food neatly on the tables.
Take pictures for social media & send them to Marty via WhatsApp.
Close & lock the church front doors.
Friday Afternoon (At or after 4 pm)
Unlock & open the front doors of the church building.
Place any leftover food in waste bags.
Collapse tables and bring them inside.
Collapse the gazebo and bring it inside.

Dispose of any leftover food in the church bin (there is usually no waste).
What team could you be part of?
Three teams are being established to help deliver Free Food Friday:
The Food Collection Team. Responsible for collecting food from Tesco and taking to the church halls. The whole process from arriving at Tesco, to leaving the church halls usually takes 30 - 40 minutes. You will need access to a car to be part of this team.
The Set-Up Team. Responsible for setting up the gazebo and tables. Setting out the food. Taking pictures for social media. The set-up process usually takes 15/20 minutes.
The Take-Down Team. Responsible for putting away the tables & gazebo and disposing of any surplus food waste. The whole process usually takes around 10 minutes.
You can be involved in one team or a number of teams.
Training
All new team members must “shadow” a trained team member to experience how things work in practice. This will also allow new teams members to ask questions.
There will also be some basic training given regarding safe food storage, manual handling, and setting up the gazebo.
Person Specification
To be involved in any of the FFF teams you must be:
Physically able to lift and carry reasonably heavy items without fear of injury.
Reliable. FFF has become a service that many needy people access. It will be important for all team members to carry out their roles consistently.
Willing to undertake the necessary training as outlined above.
A member / or regular attendee of Ravenhill Presbyterian Church.
Willing to communicate via WhatsApp.
Commitment
You can choose how often you serve on the FFF team. You may want to serve on the rota once per month, or more, or less.
We would ask you to commit to being part of the team until 30th June 2023. Over the summer break, you can then assess if you would like to continue your involvement for the academic year beginning in September 2023.
